North Vancouver Mid-century Modern Renovation
This mid-century modern renovation in North Vancouver transformed a 1950’s post-and-beam home for an active, outdoors-oriented family ready for a more connected and functional layout. As frequent hosts who entertain multiple times a week, they needed an open-concept living space that could better support gatherings and improve flow between rooms.
The original kitchen was enclosed and disconnected from the main living areas. As part of this warm modern renovation, we removed the dividing wall to connect the kitchen, dining, and living spaces, creating a more social and inviting environment.
Preserving the home’s original mid-century modern architecture was a key priority. We carefully retained the existing post-and-beam structure and characteristic lines, while enhancing the space with layered natural materials. The introduction of additional wood elements in the kitchen adds warmth and texture, hallmarks of modern West Coast interior design.
This project reflects our approach to interior design in West Vancouver and North Vancouver, where we balance architectural integrity with contemporary living, bringing together warm modern design, functional planning, and timeless materials.
